In the beginning of July, a training “Promoting the development of an energy management system in the cities of Dnipropetrovsk region”, implemented within the framework of the project “Social infrastructure development in connection with the increase of IDPs”, implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the German Government.

Training for Promoting the Development of an Energy Management System in the Cities of Dnepropetrovsk Region within the framework of the project “Social Infrastructure Development due to Increasing the Number of IDPs” implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in early July on behalf of the German Government.

The main purpose of the event is to help cities prepare qualified energy managers, build a municipal energy management system, utilize local and regional energy efficiency and alternative energy potential.

The training was attended by about 30 representatives of municipalities, oblast and rayon administrations of Dnipropetrovsk region.

All four days of training were filled with new important information, interesting excursions, useful discussions. During this time, participants have mastered the technical, regulatory, financial, economic and organizational-legal aspects of implementing energy-efficient projects, have received important advice on attracting funding for state energy efficiency support programs, engaging with international donor organizations and technical assistance projects, as well as practical training all issues of implementation of the municipal energy management system.

An important component of the curriculum was familiarity with the experience of implementing energy efficiency and RES projects in municipal and residential buildings of the Dnieper, including ACMB “Vysokovoltnaya 8” and CC “Dnipropetrovsk Regional Hospital of War Veterans”.

Communication and discussions with experts during these excursions allowed the participants to receive information not only about the positive consequences of the implemented measures, but also about the difficulties and problems they unfortunately had to face.

In the future, all energy managers can get advice on energy management implementation from the experts of the NGO “Energy Efficiency School” at the ENERGY MANAGER FORUM (http://see.org.ua/en/forum-enfo), created through the USAID Municipal Energy Project in Ukraine”.

We are convinced that the energy managers’ knowledge and skills gained during the training course will help municipalities to focus their efforts on reducing energy consumption, reducing energy costs, reducing greenhouse gas emissions through the introduction of energy-saving technologies and the use of alternative energy sources.
