NGO “School of Energy Efficiency” prepared and conducted workshops “Energy Audit and Energy Management in Hospitals” in the Northern and Eastern regions at the request of the Project “Energy Efficiency in Municipalities II”, implemented in Ukraine by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

To train energy management staff in hospitals and employees responsible for energy efficiency in the health sector in the respective municipalities, methods of reducing energy consumption in medical institutions through the introduction of energy management and energy efficiency measures, to provide skills in calculating baseline indicators for energy management energy management and energy audit in hospitals.

237 participants were trained in workshops and webinars in the Northern and Eastern regions and were introduced to key issues of energy audit and energy management of health care facilities, including:

Expected results
It is envisaged that, as a result of the seminars, representatives of municipalities and local health institutions responsible for efficient consumption of fuel and energy resources, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Communities and Territories of Ukraine and the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation of Ukraine, will be acquainted with key issues of energy audit and energy management of healthcare institutions.
Each participant receives a GIZ certificate.
The main issues of the seminar program are:
1. The concept of energy management in hospitals Facility management. Organizational and legal aspects of energy management implementation.
2. Energy monitoring system. Data collection and analysis. Methods of data analysis and energy efficiency assessment. Basic level of energy consumption.
3. Energy audit in hospitals.
3.1 General concept of energy audit: goals and objectives; specifics of energy audit in hospitals.
3.2 Regulatory regulation of energy audits in hospitals. Requirements for the indoor climate.
3.3. Sources of information for energy audit. Questionnaires (questionnaires) for energy auditors. Data analysis.
3.4. Technical aspects of thermo-modification of buildings. Enclosure structures. Requirements for thermal protection. Use of thermal imagers.
4. Hospital energy balance. Major energy sources in hospitals and major energy consumers.
5. Engineering systems of buildings.
5.1 Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Types and properties.
5.2 Energy efficiency measures in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems

Terms of participation
Representatives are invited to participate:
municipalities responsible for efficient consumption of fuel and energy resources;

The seminar can be attended by 1-2 representatives from an institution who did not participate in GIZ-like trainings.
