The organizers of the program – NGO “School of Energy Efficiency” and project “Energy Efficiency in Communities”, implemented by GIZ, together with the Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management of NTUU “KPI” developed a 5-day training program that combined the knowledge and experience of teachers of specialized universities and specialized universities. – practitioners from the Academy of Public-Private Partnership, the Kiev Center for Energy Efficiency, the Association of Energy Auditors.
An important component of the training was acquaintance with the experience of implementation of energy efficient projects in municipal and residential buildings of Kiev, among which is a house in which one of the first individual heat points is installed, and subsequently, through the creation of condominiums, a number of other projects were gradually implemented and secondary school and kindergarten, in which complex thermo-modernization was carried out.
Communication and discussions with experts during these excursions allowed the training participants to receive information not only about the positive consequences of the implemented measures, but also about the difficulties and problems they unfortunately had to face.
Practical classes at the Kyiv Energy Efficiency Center were a great opportunity to get acquainted with energy-efficient materials and existing samples of energy-efficient equipment, practical aspects of conducting energy audits, development of feasibility studies and principles of selection of investment projects, to acquire thermographic imaging skills and more.
Thus, five days of training appeared to be filled with new important information, interesting excursions, useful discussions. During this time, participants learned not only the technical but also the regulatory, financial, economic, organizational and legal aspects of implementing energy efficiency projects, and received important advice on how to attract funding for government programs to support energy efficiency, interact with international financial institutions and technical assistance projects.
